Do not wait for the future – the future is here!
Metron is a company where all the energy that is needed comes from our own solar power plants. Electric energy is stored in 1 MWh batteries, most of which are assembled from used battery packs – so called “second life batteries”.
Production plant at Obrezje where we make charging cables and portable charging stations was the first fully sustainable production facility for EV charging cables in 2019. All energy, needed for the heating and cooling of the building, production process and for transportation of goods and employees (except deliveries of heavy materials by trucks), is produced by 2 photovoltaic power plants (32 kW) and stored in storage batteries (60 and 30 kWh) and one Smart Fortwo EV with V2B (vehicle to battery) capability. The entire project has been financed by Metron and engineered by Metron and our partner GENi, without any government subsidies/incentives.
Our HQ at Podnart have a bigger system with PV mounted on trackers and on all the roofs. Energy is stored in 300 kWh “second life” storage battery. Our dynamic load balancing charging stations allow our employees to charge their electric vehicles with surplus of solar energy when it is available.
Metron research and developing center has seen its PV system growing from 1988 till now. It is now a mess of different PV modules and a huge 350 kWh storage battery built from second life vehicle batteries.
Till end of the year 2023, all our employees will use only electric vehicles to drive to work and back.
Most of the raw materials we use (cables, plugs) is made in EU, to shorten supply routes and support local economy. Buying our products helps developing sustainable economy.
