METRON – A FULLY SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION COMPANY
At Metron, sustainability is at the core of our operations. Nearly all the energy we use is generated by our own solar power plants and stored in 500 kWh battery systems. A significant portion of these batteries are repurposed from used battery packs, known as “second-life batteries,” reducing waste and maximizing resource efficiency.
Sustainable Production at Obrezje
Our production plant in Obrezje, where we manufacture charging cables and portable charging stations, became the first fully sustainable EV charging cable production facility in 2019. The facility is entirely powered by two photovoltaic (PV) power plants, with a combined capacity of 48 kW, and energy is stored in 120 kWh battery systems. This self-sufficient energy setup covers all heating, cooling, production processes, and transportation needs—except for deliveries of heavy materials by truck.
Notably, the entire project was engineered and financed by Metron, without any government subsidies or incentives.

Energy System at Obrezje:
- 48 kW photovoltaic power plant
- 120 kWh battery storage
- 45 kW peak power output
- 4 Type 2 charging stations with dynamic power control
- 1 DC V2B (Vehicle-to-Battery) charging station
Production Capacity at Obrezje: 30,000 EV cables/adapters per year
Sustainable Operations at Podnart
Our headquarters and production plant in Podnart feature an even more advanced energy system, with PV panels installed on solar trackers and all available roof space. Our dynamic load-balancing charging stations enable employees to charge their electric vehicles using surplus solar energy when available, further enhancing our energy efficiency.

Energy System at Podnart:
- 100 kW photovoltaic power plant
- 380 kWh battery storage
- 60 kW inverters
Production Capacity at Podnart:
- 4,000 wall-mounted charging stations annually
- Complete R&D, prototype production and toolmaking
- 100-120 battery systems manufactured per year
In 2024, we doubled our production capacity with the addition of new buildings, reflecting our commitment to sustainable growth.
Transport and Raw Materials
- All components are sourced within the EU, primarily from Slovenia, with cables produced in Germany.
- Material transportation between locations is conducted using Tesla electric vehicles, ensuring a low-carbon footprint.
- Every employee drives a company-provided electric car, which can be charged free of charge at Metron facilities.
