RENAULT ZOE NOTES:

  1. This portable charger (portable charging station) is designed to work also with Renault ZOE (all motor versions are supported) what means Renault ZOE won’t damage this portable charger – won’t weld internal contactors!
  2. Before charging starts Renault ZOE’s on-board charger system checks if the wall socket from which you want to charge the car is correctly connected to a GOOD electrical grid otherwise ZOE won’t start charging. The wall socket/grid must have the following characteristics:
  • Phases in wall socket must be connected correctly – phase sequence has to be L1-L2-L3 (clockwise). If the wall socket phase sequence is L3-L2-L1 (counterclockwise) some Zoe versions won’t charge! To check phases and phase sequence you can use our PHASE TESTER device.
  • Electrical grid behind wall socket must have low impedance (cables with conductor cross sections at least 2.5mm2 have to be used)
  • Earthing/grounding must be well done (earth resistance should be less than 100 Ohm)
  • The voltage difference between neutral and earth should be very low (if this is a problem it can be solved by experienced electrician in the way neutral and earth are connected together in a wall socket if there is no RCD protection in the building or before RDC protection device if it exists)
  • Wall socket RCD (Ground fault protection) device must be Type A (30mA) or Type A with added 6mA DC RCD or Type B. RCD Type AC (30mA) is not appropriate, because it can be activated by Renault ZOE charging system!
  • When charging at single phase (using CEE to schuko adapter) it is important that phase and neutral are correctly positioned. If it doesn’t work turn schuko domestic plug by 180 deg. and it will (most likely) work.
