PORTABLE EV CHARGER for charging TESLA electric vehicles with Type 2 charging sockets from any standard home or public wall socket (230V power source). Supports 1-phase charging with currents up to 16A (up to 3,7 kW charging power).

Integrated two “must-have” Tesla only features (same as present on Tesla Superchargers and Destination chargers):

  1.  Remote charge port opener
  2.  Charging plug unlocker

Compatible with European versions of TESLA Model 3, Model S and Model X electric vehicles.

NOTE: If you have chosen the version without RCD, use of this device is allowed exclusively on installations protected by RCD [1]. If you have opted for a industrial CEE plug, please kindly describe in order notes (at check-out), which type of plug you wish to have (1-phase or 3-phase plug).

Optional features:

  • SCHUKO plug (Type F) with integrated OVER-TEMPERATURE PROTECTION
    • Ensures SAFE charging with high currents (16A)
    • Works totally independent
    • Terminates charging in case it gets too hot
    • Over-temperature is indicated via blinking blue LED on EV plug
    • Automatically resumes charging when it cools down
    • How it works: in case of bad quality wall socket that causes excessive heat generation this Schuko plug is able to detect that and disconnect charging. When this happens the blue LED light on the EV plug starts  blinking 5 times (repeating). When everything cools down charging is automatically resumed.
  • Ground fault protection device – 30mA RCD (shall be used if there is no 30mA RCD protection behind the wall socket/in-house electrical installation)

Compatibility:

Beside European versions of Tesla Model S, Model X and Model 3 electric vehicles this portable charger is also compatible with all other electric vehicles equipped with Type 2 charging sockets.

What is RCD and how does it work?

RCD is an acronym for Residual Current Device – sometimes it can be called also Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker or Safety Switch. Its purpose is to prevent you from getting a fatal electric shock if you touch live part, such as a bare copper wire under high voltage. RCDs offer a level of personal protection that ordinary fuses/circuit-breakers cannot provide. RCD constantly monitors the electric current flowing through one or more circuits which it protects. If it detects electricity flowing down an unintended path, such as through a person who has touched a live part, the RCD will switch the circuit off very quickly, significantly reducing the risk of death or serious injury.
